FAITH
Sunday I started a new series on faith with Abraham being our example. It is amazing to see someone walk by faith in Jesus. Growing up I had a great example of walking by faith - my parents. They packed up everything they owned in a few suitcases and moved to Israel to be messengers of the Good News that Jesus gave us. I look back now and wonder how they did it. The whole thing comes down to trusting God. Trusting that when He said, "He would never leave or forsake us", He meant it! One of the points of the talk on Sunday was a quote I read by Mark Batterson out of his book- "Wild Goose Chase". "Faith isn't logical. But it isn't illogical either. It doesn't ignore reality; it just adds God into the equation." In our lives we put a ceiling on what we think God can do. But God told Abraham to look at the stars and count them and his descendants would be as many as the stars. Not that big of a deal (you might be saying). It was a big deal seeing Abraham was old and his wife wasn't able to have any children. But the Bible says that Abraham was absolutely convinced that God would do what He said He would do! ABSOLUTELY!!! What a great word. No room for doubt- just FAITH! In your life has God promised you something and you just shrugged it off as impossible? Maybe it's time to shake off our doubt and put our faith in God and see what He can accomplish in us!
